QUITPLAN® Services has once again returned to the Minnesota State Fair for 2018! We always look forward to The Great Minnesota Get-Together, because it gives us the opportunity to speak with Minnesota smokers about how we can help them quit, and to hear the wonderful quitting stories of those who already have.
This is the last year of our presence at the State Fair, so don’t miss your chance to visit. Our booth at the corner of Cooper Street and Dan Patch Avenue features giveaways, a prize wheel, lung-function testing and message boards for quitters. In addition, visitors can get our popular refreshing QUITPLAN mints, brochures and the chance to interact with certified Quit Coaches that work with tobacco users to help manage their quit attempts and embrace a healthier way of life.
As Minnesota’s current statewide quit-smoking resource, QUITPLAN Services has given more than 170,000 smokers the free tools they need to make quit attempts. However, ClearWay Minnesota, the nonprofit that operates QUITPLAN Services, was created as a life-limited organization, and the program will end in early 2020. If the State Legislature does not act soon, Minnesota could become the only state that doesn’t provide free tobacco cessation resources to all residents.
Minnesota must find a way to support cessation services long-term after QUITPLAN Services ends, or many of Minnesota’s 580,000 smokers will be without access to help quitting. Sustainable funding for cessation services is critical to creating a smoke-free generation in our state.
You still have three days left to visit, and we hope you’ll stop by to say hello.
See you at the State Fair!
