Currently, 49 colleges and universities in Minnesota are tobacco-free, representing a growing national trend. Tobacco-free campuses prohibit tobacco use in academic buildings, campus housing, school vehicles, outdoor spaces and parking lots.
Ninety-nine percent of smokers started using tobacco before they turned 26 so if we can help students make it throughout college without starting to smoke, there is a good chance they never will. Additionally, tobacco-free campuses prepare students to enter a competitive workforce that is largely tobacco-free.
We’ve created the following video to promote campuses around the state that have embraced this new healthy trend and to motivate the remaining schools to do the same.
